How to pick a floor price without overthinking it
One number, set once. Here is how the sellers who earn the most choose theirs.
The floor is the only decision you make, so it is worth getting roughly right. It does not need to be perfect.
Start above the utility
Whatever your utility pays for export, add two cents. In most regions that lands between $0.09 and $0.12. Nearly every afternoon block clears above it, and every one that does beats the old deal.
Then look at your unsold blocks
After a week the app shows you which blocks did not clear. If almost none did, your floor is fine. If a lot did, especially in the afternoon, drop it a cent. If none did at all, you might be leaving money on the table: try raising it a cent and see what happens.
Solar-only sellers can go higher
If you cannot shift power into the evening, a higher floor that skips the midday trough is often the better trade. Priya in Phoenix runs $0.14 and clears about 60% of her blocks, all of them at good prices.
Battery sellers can go higher still
You are selling at the peak anyway. A floor of $0.15 in California barely costs you a block.
